Michel Alimasi

Michel works with organisations and collaboratives trying to act in complex systems where no single actor sees the whole picture or can change it alone. He combines AI-assisted systems mapping, strategic foresight and facilitation, informed by political economy, to help groups understand the field around them, make sense of power and interdependence, and identify where collective action is possible.

Recent projects have included mapping climate and resilience coalitions across regions, analysing power and capabilities across multi-stakeholder initiatives, and supporting transformative scenarios and place-based work. He has built decision tools that turn large, fragmented fields of actors and relationships into usable choices for collaborative action, and he is currently working on an urban innovation initiative in Turin (Italy) that brings together actors across food, neighbourhood, resilience and public institutions.

Across this work, Michel is particularly interested in the gap between understanding a system and being able to act within it: who has the power to move or block change, what different actors can contribute, and how collaborative strategies can be designed around the constraints and possibilities that actually exist.

Away from projects and laptops, Michel reads history and philosophy and spends as much time as he can walking through London’s parks and surrounding countryside.
