Marcelo is a psychology graduate and a holds an Msc in Responsibility and Business Practice from University of Bath (UK). He is also a fellow at Sustainability Institute.
Marcelo worked for 8 years at ABN AMRO financial group. He was a pioneer during the birth of the sustainability department at Banco Real in 2001 (Banco Real was the Brazilian branch of ABN AMRO). In 2004 he worked as an expatriate in Amsterdam (the head office of ABN AMRO), coordinating global sustainability strategy development and acting as the secretary for international sustainability leaders. In 2005 Marcelo worked as a Social and Environmental Risk Analyst, assessing the financing of projects concerning the largest clients of the bank in areas such as oil and gas, forestry and infrastructure. He went to work for ABN AMRO in Chicago where he helped create a sustainability practice at LaSalle Bank.
In 2008 Marcelo accepted the challenge to manage an NGO called Serra Acima in the middle of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. His projects at Serra Acima were focused on reforestation of watersheds and family farming from an agro-ecological perspective. In all of his projects Marcelo acts mainly as a process designer and group facilitator. He has been an associate of Reos Partners Brazil since 2009. Currently he is focusing on organizational change from a systems thinking and liberating leadership perspective.
