Gerardo Marquez’s technical knowledge and systemic change lens have allowed him to work successfully in the energy, environment & innovation sectors worldwide. He is passionate about building capacities in others to address the complex societal and environmental issues we are collectively facing.
Gerardo is the cofounder of a leadership program for immigrant women in Calgary, a mentor to newcomers and a community organizer.
Gerardo’s experience has taken him from Mexico, to Canada, USA, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East among other places. From doing work related to environmental racism, human rights and inclusion of civil society in places such as Durban, South Africa to working in renewable energy, innovation and energy transition in North-America. Gerardo has advised municipal governments and institutions in renewable energy strategy & innovation. He’s participated in multi-stakeholder groups and laboratories to advance the transformation of the energy sector and the communities where he has lived.
