John Matthews is a co-founder and Director of the Institute of Executive Coaching. John began coaching in 1995 and has been described as a pioneer of coaching in Australia having established the Institute in 1999 as a centre of excellence for executive coaching in the region.

Since that time, John has accumulated over 11,000 hours coaching experience with senior executives from some of the world’s most prominent organisations. His experience includes having coached several Australian Federal Department Secretaries, some of whom were new in their appointments and others seeking strategic coaching to augment their seasoned experience in times of change.

John has recently trained over 50 internal coaches and facilitators for Centrelink enabling them to deliver coaching skills courses for managers and team leaders within their organisation. Previously, John did the same for ANZ Bank as part of a well-documented cultural change program which transformed ANZ into an industry leader.

On a daily basis, John works with senior executives of high profile organisations across a range of industries including banking and finance, professional services, retail, information technology and telecommunications. Other clients John has worked with include Asian Development Bank, NAB, Centrelink, Telstra, ANZ, Ernst & Young, Barwon Water and OneSteel.
